THE ROLLS BALLOON CAR

Back to 1/16 scale again. Bought this model from the USA where there still seems  some kits remaining despite the fact that they were from around 1980 but they are becoming rare.

The Silver Ghost series were what started the fame of Rolls Royce and it was this model that was made for Mr Rolls so he could per sue his hobby of ballooning .
Coming together rather well as the Entex model although made 30 or 40 years ago were well designed.

Will spray the chassis and guards semi gloss black later.

Had problems with the spoke wheels which are not as they should be. I improvised to use my limited skills in this part of the build and made the spokes out if florist wire  and although they are incorrect they serve the purpose.

The jig helped but it was a tedious job.

Used timber where I could for more authenticity.

A pleasant build which rewards you with an unusual model.

ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM 11 CONTINENTAL 1934

Still continuing my new fascination with car models I have purchased this 1/16
scale Rolls Royce Phantom from the USA.
This time it is from Revell produced around 1978 so a vintage kit to begin with.
As it is nearly 40 years old it came in surprisingly good order and the only thing missing was the chrome strips for the running board which I have seen on some models.
A straight forward build with only a small number of problems.
I used Tamiya paints for the build and glossing with Humbrol Gloss Cote.
The burgundy colour was made up of X7 Red with a touch of X4 Blue.
Here are a few photos of the early stages.

The final assembly will come next.

Well here it is.
On this occasion I did not fix the bonnet sides as I had spent so much time
building the engine i needed to show some of the effort.

I have to say that the actual model looks a lot better than these photos show as the clear gloss has no blemishes ....my photography skills were lacking in this presentation.

Cadillac Cabriolet 1931 with V16 CYLINDER ENGINE.

This scale is much smaller than the Packard at 1/24 scale and from the
Jo Han factory and made around 1965....so an old kit.
A rather good model considering the technology is 50 years old.

Packard 12 Cylinder Coup 1937 scale 1/16

This model was built from a ENTEX kit that was from the 1960`s. I purchased it from the USA. At 1/16 scale it is a large model and a pleasure to build.
I chose Red as that was the color I saw of Clarke Gable`s car.
